TUFs Solution

A2G (ANTS2GIANTS): TUITION CENTER

With an aim to decrease the alarming drop-out rate among students in the slum areas, TUF has set up after school programs that provide quality academic assistance.

Skilled and experienced teachers with a passion to make a difference are hired for the same. Our student count has increased over the years with a majority of girls. Having produced students that passed the SSLC Board exams with 90+ and 80+ percentages A2G is our prime initiative and motivator to work rigorously in the education sector. Experiment based learning is encouraged to build the interest of the students. Annual Exhibition Farewell and Felicitation programs are held to further their encouragement. Records of the yearly results are maintained while after 10th Counselling and Admission Assistance is provided to the deserving lot. Local Volunteers at each center look after the maintenance of center, attendance and ensure smooth functioning. A monthly stipend is given to the same. .

A2G (ANTS2GIANTS): MENTORING SESSIONS

Readying students for the real world by introducing them to the array of fields and situations, the A2G Mentoring Session is our most popular initiative

Volunteers from all walks of life take keen interest in interacting and sharing their experiences with the students in the slum. Noted International Days are celebrated such as – World Heart Day, World Nutrition Day, World Girl Child Day, World Ozone Day, World Suicide Prevention Day. Each session is well planned and organized inviting Psychologists, Nutritionists, Physical Trainers, Counsellors, Doctors, etc. Documentaries, Debates, Extempore, Competitions and Discussions are an integral part. Every Sunday Spoken English classes are conducted based on a syllabus. Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking Skills are focused on. Worksheets and Games play an important role in the English Sessions. Art and Craft Classes are taken up to encourage a creative outlet for the students whilst serving as a therapeutic technique to relax and relief stress. The art and craft items made by the students are sold at Pop-Up Stalls in colleges (Mount Carmel College). The students are also trained in Etiquettes and Manners. Qualities of empathy, gratitude, loyalty, respect and more are imbibed in the sessions. Collaborations with NGO’s that hold seminars and workshops have proven to be fruitful – Career Counselling Workshop, Menstrual Hygiene Workshop, Paper-bag Making Workshop, etc. Annual Field Trips are held for re-creational purposes. Over the years, our Mentoring Sessions have proven regular attendance and healthy long lasting mentor-mentee relationships. Volunteers from the urban localities have found an able platform to better understand situations among the poor and contribute towards the same.
