Helping the Poor Beat the Chill of Winter

About 5000 homeless people have been identified in Bangalore City and 11,615 in Karnataka, as per the survey done in 2020.

Winters in India are welcomed happily by most. However, the poor have it otherwise. Lack of proper shelter and winter wear has them exposed to the biting cold each night.

TUFs Annual Winter Drive – Project Woollies was initiated in 2018. Our volunteers conducted a night survey across the streets of Bangalore and to our surprise, the numbers of those left vulnerable to the chill of winter just continued to escalate.

Hence, at TUF, the first week of January is dedicated to distributing warm blankets, woolen caps, sweaters, jackets, gloves, and other winter gear to aid those battling the biting winter on the streets and in housing not fit to shelter its inmates from the chilly winters. Over the years, TUF has also supplied mattresses at hospitals and charitable homes.

Our Project Woollies is a much-anticipated campaign every Winter Season that once again proves that it’s the little things that bring people together in love and compassion.
